Toss Announces H1 2025 Card Trends: Rewards & Overseas

Viva Republica, the operator of the financial super app “Toss,” announced that it has surpassed 2 million cumulative card issuances, with rewards and overseas benefits as the key card trends in the first half of 2025.

According to data collected from January 1 to June 30 of 2025, users in the “Find Card Manually” menu, which compares cards, showed that users have a preference for practical categories.

More than 70% of users chose “rewards” over discounts, as immediate compensation tends to provide greater satisfaction. Users preferred annual fees under ₩10,000 and minimum spending requirements under ₩300,000.

Benefits were largely focused on overseas use, with many seeking cost-effective options and rewards for overseas travel. This trend seems relevant to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s recent announcement that the number of international passengers in the first half of 2025 reached an all-time high, up 7.4% from the previous year.

In the first half of this year, the “Toss Shinhan Card Mr. Life” credit card and the “KB Kookmin Travelers” debit card were the most issued. The “Toss Shinhan Card Mr. Life” saw a balanced distribution of applications across age groups. Following this, the most issued credit cards were Hyundai Card M and Lotte Card LOCA LIKIT, while for debit cards, the KB Kookmin Tosimi Chekchek Debit Card and KB Kookmin Nori2 Play ranked next.

“From frugal everyday spending to overseas travel, users are increasingly favoring practical benefits that suit them perfectly,” a Toss representative said. “We will continue to offer more options to users through partnerships with various card companies.”

Meanwhile, Toss has been providing its card comparison and recommendation service since 2018, marking its 7th year this year. To celebrate surpassing 2 million cumulative card issuances, Toss is holding a “₩2M Lotto Event” in two rounds: the first from July 21 to 26, and the second from July 27 to August 2.
