Toss expands efforts to improve financial access for foreign residents in Korea through a hands-on marketing competition focused on driving real user engagement.

Toss announced the launch of the “TOSS FOREIGNER BRIDGE CREW,” a hands-on marketing competition that allows participants to develop and execute real-world strategies.
As a leading fintech platform in Korea, offering services such as payments, money transfers, and personal finance management, Toss is building on its ongoing efforts to improve financial accessibility for foreign residents through this competition.
Toss has introduced multilingual support, enhanced its onboarding and identity verification systems, and recently expanded its international remittance service to 50 countries through a partnership with cross-border payments provider SentBe.
As part of the competition, participants will analyze the foreign resident market in Korea and design marketing strategies aimed at attracting new users and driving user adoption. Selected teams will execute their ideas with guidance from Toss mentors, gaining hands-on experience while testing their strategies in a real business environment.
The competition is open to individuals aged 19 or older residing in Korea, regardless of nationality. Applicants may apply individually or in teams of up to six. Selected teams will receive a stipend and an official certificate of completion. Based on performance, one team will be awarded the grand prize of KRW 2 million, one team will receive KRW 1 million, and three teams will each receive KRW 500,000. Applications are open through April 5, with more details available on Toss’s official Instagram channel.
“This competition is designed to give participants hands-on experience in executing real projects while gaining a deeper understanding of diverse user perspectives,” a Toss representative said. “We hope this effort will also help more users naturally engage with our services.”
Meanwhile, Toss continues to expand services tailored to foreign residents, including international remittances, expense and income tracking, and access to administrative services such as issuing official documents and applying for medical expense reimbursements. Through Toss Pay, users can also make online and QR payments, as well as in-store payments using its facial recognition-based service, FacePay.

Toss has unveiled its vision for next-generation money, driven by programmable money and stablecoins.
The company presented this vision at the “2026 Blockchain Meetup Conference” in Seoul  under the theme “Money 3.0: The Next Era by Toss.” The annual conference, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency, brings together industry leaders to discuss digital trust, blockchain technology, and AI integration. This marked Toss’ first participation in the event, where it also unveiled its stablecoin strategy.
Chang-hoon Seo, Corporate Development Director at Toss, delivered the keynote, stating: “In 2015, Toss lowered barriers to finance by redesigning money transfer without digital certificates. Looking ahead, Toss will complete a ‘Borderless Financial Super App’ by redesigning money itself, eliminating the boundaries of geography, products, time, and participants.”
Seo outlined five defining characteristics of “Money 3.0”: Universal, Programmable, Verifiable, Composable, and Seamless, and highlighted Toss’ differentiated capabilities across each dimension.
He emphasized that “the biggest challenge facing any new monetary system is mass adoption—the so-called cold start problem,” adding, “Toss’ strength lies in its existing base of 30 million users, representing the majority of Korea’s economically active population.” He further noted, “Once Toss activates its Money 3.0 infrastructure, users can immediately participate from Day 1 without the need to create separate wallets,” calling this Toss’ most powerful competitive advantage.
Seo also presented a vision for AI-powered programmable money: “Money itself will carry embedded logic, enabling it to think and move autonomously without constant human intervention.” He added that in the near future, every user will have an AI assistant through Toss. Built on stablecoin infrastructure, AI will automate not only payments, transfers, and foreign exchange, but also broader financial decision-making and execution—such as auto-buying at target prices, portfolio rebalancing, and loan repayment optimization.
He further explained that, rather than requiring users to design complex smart contracts, AI agents will structure transaction conditions while MyData provides contextual information. An AI-driven operating system that abstracts the complexity of programmable money will execute these processes autonomously. “As a company with licenses spanning banking, securities, and payments, Toss aims to position itself as a pioneer of the ‘Money 3.0 operating system’ by combining its large user base with advanced AI capabilities,” Seo said.
On institutional trust, Seo stressed that reserves backing Money 3.0 must be transparently verifiable on-chain and supported by a robust regulatory framework. He added, “As a full-stack fintech platform, Toss is uniquely positioned to combine the transparency of crypto with the stability of traditional financial institutions, securing trust on both fronts.”
In line with anticipated second-phase virtual asset legislation in Korea, Toss is strengthening its internal controls and risk management systems. With financial consumer protection as its top priority, the company aims to ensure both market integrity and investor confidence.
“This transformation is not merely an upgrade to payment methods, but a structural shift that redefines the fundamental workings of money,” Seo said. “Toss will replace the rails of traditional finance to build a truly borderless financial environment and enable transactions that were previously impossible.”
Toss has already completed a proof of concept (PoC) applying the core principles of Money 3.0 to real-world financial services. Earlier this month, the company finalized its “Digital Asset Co-Prosperity Loan Project for Small Businesses.” The PoC integrates Toss’ proprietary small business credit evaluation model, “SohoScore,” with blockchain-based smart contracts. Under this model, if a borrower’s credit score improves after taking out a loan backed by digital assets, the interest rate is automatically reduced—without requiring a formal request to reduce rate. This demonstrates that programmable money, designed to think and act autonomously, can be effectively applied to real financial products.
“This PoC is particularly meaningful as it was fully designed and implemented in-house using Toss’ proprietary blockchain capabilities without external support,” said a Toss representative. “By enabling credit score changes, loan execution, and interest rate adjustments to operate seamlessly within a single smart contract, we have validated the potential to expand into a wide range of conditional financial products.”

Toss announced that it will participate as a strategic partner in the “Korea Indie Game Dev Camp,” a multi-stage competition designed to discover and support promising indie game projects. Through this initiative, the company aims to help early-stage startups and aspiring entrepreneurs overcome commercialization challenges while contributing to the growth of Korea’s indie game industry.
The program, led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), seeks to enhance the competitiveness of the indie game sector and strengthen the overall growth of Korea’s gaming industry. Through a phased selection process, it identifies early-stage startups and aspiring entrepreneurs with creative ideas and provides structured support—from development and commercialization to potential investment opportunities.
Despite strong creativity and technical capabilities, many indie game developers face structural challenges such as limited funding, insufficient marketing capabilities, and constrained global networks, preventing them from achieving full-scale launches and stable operations. Toss plans to address these barriers by supporting developers in achieving sustainable market entry.
In particular, Toss will focus on helping HTML5-based game developers overcome technical and operational limitations while strengthening their commercialization capabilities. The company will provide systematic marketing support to help developers acquire users and will expand collaboration opportunities through networking initiatives. Additionally, Toss will actively explore investment opportunities for high-potential games, aiming to drive tangible commercialization outcomes and broaden the user base for indie games.
Previously, Toss signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KOCCA at the “Korea Indie Game Showcase 2025” in December last year to support the expansion of the HTML5 game ecosystem in Korea. This latest initiative represents a concrete extension of that partnership.
Toss has been leading a model of mutual growth and collaboration in the IT industry, delivering measurable outcomes. Its mini-app platform, “Apps in Toss,” surpassed 1,000 partner mini-apps since its official launch last July.
Notably, the gaming category accounts for approximately 50% of all mini-apps on the platform, making it a key driver of early growth for “Apps in Toss.” Its instant-play structure, which allows users to access games without separate app downloads, enhances user convenience and aligns closely with developer demand. For example, Manababa, the developer of the game Doldoldi, surpassed KRW 210 million in monthly revenue after partnering with “Apps in Toss,” overcoming financial difficulties and gaining new momentum for growth.
The platform has also demonstrated strong partner retention. Approximately 95% of partners that joined “Apps in Toss” over the past 10 months continue to operate their services. This is attributed to reduced marketing burdens and improved early user acquisition, which have positively impacted the survival rate of early-stage startups. “Apps in Toss” provides marketing solutions free of charge after game launches, allowing developers to focus on enhancing the quality of their content.

The milestone comes just seven months after the platform’s official launch in July, and about ten months after the first mini debuted within the Toss app. Since the official launch, an average of 4.8 new mini apps have been added to the Toss ecosystem each day.
The early growth of Apps in Toss was led by the gaming sector. The convenience of instant execution, without requiring a separate app download, has resonated strongly with game developers, fueling a string of success stories. One notable example is Manababa, the developer of the game Doldoldi. Facing financial difficulties and even considering closing its office at the time, the company rebounded after partnering with Apps in Toss, surpassing KRW 210 million in monthly revenue and gaining new momentum for growth.
The non-gaming sector is also expanding rapidly. Non-game mini apps now account for more than 60% of the total, spanning a wide range of categories including lifestyle, health, and AI. Notable examples include an indie developer who launched 20 services using “vibe coding” technology, which enables code implementation through natural language descriptions, as well as a solo developer who released five mini apps within a single month and generated KRW 25 million in monthly revenue. These cases highlight Apps in Toss as a viable gateway to entrepreneurship.
Beyond simply expanding its partner base, the platform has also demonstrated meaningful results in terms of service sustainability. Over the past ten months, 95% of partners that joined Apps in Toss are still actively operating their services. This strong retention rate underscores the platform’s ability to address one of the biggest hurdles in app development and entrepreneurship - acquiring an initial user base - while providing a stable foundation for growth.
“In the case of the recently viral ‘Dubai Chewy Cookie Map,’ everything from partnership discussions to mini app development and launch was completed in just one day,” said a Toss representative. “We will continue building an ecosystem where anyone with an idea can quickly and easily launch an app, helping foster an environment where entrepreneurship is more accessible than ever.”

Toss co-hosted the “2026 Financial Golden Bell,” a quiz-style financial education event for young adults with diverse cognitive abilities, in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
The contest was inspired by a popular Korean high school quiz show that celebrates learning and achievement. It follows an elimination format in which participants answer a series of questions, with those answering incorrectly being eliminated. The last remaining participant is declared the winner.
The event, held at the Seoul City Hall, was designed as a participatory financial education program aimed at improving financial literacy and enhancing self-efficacy among youth who fall within a below-average cognitive range. The group often faces challenges in academic and social settings, which can lead to limited financial understanding and increased vulnerability to financial fraud.
To address this, Toss signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Metropolitan Government in December 2024 to support financial education for the group and provide structured programs and educational content. Since then, Toss has conducted a total of 22 financial education sessions, with 315 participants to date. The “2026 Financial Golden Bell” was held as part of these ongoing efforts.
Ahead of the event, Toss provided a preliminary financial education session covering fundamental financial concepts and fraud prevention. The program included topics such as the basics of money, everyday financial practices, real-world fraud cases, and methods for prevention and response. Participants were also given a set of 70 pre-learning questions structured across four levels of difficulty.  In the main quiz contest,  more than 90 percent of the questions were based on the pre-learning material, enabling participants to reinforce their understanding through repetition.  The contest also included a revival round, giving eliminated participants a second chance to rejoin.
All approximately 50 participants received certificates of completion along with a gift set featuring The Money Issue - a magazine with bite-sized financial content published by Toss. Outstanding participants were also recognized with awards. The event reaffirmed how accessible and tailored education can help individuals with diverse cognitive needs build both financial understanding and the confidence to make independent decisions.
“The process of preparing through self-study, from pre-learning to solving the questions, was meaningful,” said the contest winner. “Beyond the result, I want to commend myself for staying committed throughout the journey.”
“We hope that through the preparation process, participants came to see finance not as something difficult, but as a practical tool for everyday life,” said a Toss representative. “Toss will continue to work with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to expand financial education for those with limited access to financial services.”
In addition to financial education, Toss has also provided support through content and donations. The company previously donated KRW 100 million from the proceeds of its book, The Money Book: A Guide to Financial Living for a Better Life, to support individuals with diverse cognitive abilities.
