Toss FacePay Surpasses 6 Million Subscribers

Toss announced that cumulative subscribers to its facial recognition-based payment service, “FacePay,” have exceeded 6 million.
FacePay surpassed 3 million subscribers in February, exceeded 4 million in March, topped 5 million in April, and crossed 6 million in May. Approximately 3 million new users joined during the three-month period — equivalent to one new subscriber every 2.7 seconds on average. The pace of growth has continued to accelerate, with the most recent one million subscribers added in just 23 days.
Actual usage has also continued to increase alongside subscriber growth. Among users who have completed at least one FacePay transaction, approximately 60% have gone on to use FacePay again. This indicates that an increasing number of users are moving beyond an initial trial and incorporating FacePay into their everyday payment routines. The most active user has completed more than 2,000 FacePay transactions to date.
FacePay’s merchant network has also expanded rapidly. As of early June, the cumulative number of merchant locations equipped with Toss Front terminals capable of processing FacePay transactions exceeded 370,000. Toss Front is now available across all 226 cities, counties and districts in South Korea. In addition to everyday locations such as cafes, restaurants and convenience stores, FacePay is expanding into a wider range of offline environments, including bookstores, highway rest areas and automotive service centers.
The milestone reflects the combined impact of expanded merchant coverage and continued improvements to the user experience. Toss has recently enhanced payment speed and facial recognition accuracy, further improving the overall payment experience. Through these efforts, the company has continued to make FacePay faster, more reliable, and more convenient for users.
