  • Aiming to Build a Sustainable, Inclusive Childcare Infrastructure Across All Stages of Parenting

Viva Republica, the operator of the financial super app “Toss,” announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with the Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service (KCOMWEL) to expand cooperative workplace daycare centers. The signing ceremony was held at Toss’ headquarters in Gangnam, Seoul, and was attended by key officials, including Heeyeon Jeong, Chief Human Resources Officer at Toss, and Heehwan Hyung, Director General of Welfare Services at KCOMWEL.

Through this agreement, Toss and KCOMWEL will collaborate to alleviate the childcare burden for working parents in the Gangnam area. Toss plans to open a new workplace daycare center in December that can accommodate 49 children. This center will also be open to the children of employees from partnering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to promote shared prosperity with the local community. KCOMWEL will provide both financial and institutional support for the establishment and operation of the daycare center.

Last year in June, Toss introduced a hub-based daycare model called “Our Neighborhood’s Toss Daycare”, which partners with local childcare centers near employees' homes to enhance accessibility and convenience for working parents. With the establishment of an additional daycare center, Toss is going beyond meeting regulatory obligations. Toss aims to create a culture of shared parenting within the community and offer emergency childcare and other support services to SME employees in the area.

Toss already offers a comprehensive welfare infrastructure that supports employees through all stages of family planning, birth and parenting. Programs include support for fertility testing, moms’ community programs, babysitting subsidies, tailored policies for employees on or returning from parental leave, and care kits and gifts for expecting team members.

“Toss is rooted in the belief that individual happiness leads to greater engagement at work and has been designing a practical and meaningful employee welfare system that would allow all employees to balance work and parenting,” said Heeyeon Jung, CHRO at Toss. “This agreement marks the beginning of a mutually supportive partnership with the local community and an opportunity for Toss to actualize its philosophy of providing meaningful and comprehensive support throughout the parenting journey.”
